Long Hollow Christian Church Family and Friends,

Things are great in Haiti. We are finishing a few projects at the orphanage and we have begun distributing the items many of you gave. Today (Tuesday…I think, time seems to move so much slower here) we have been working on the new toy room for the kids. We painted the walls, created a chalk board, started building shelves and will finish that up tonight. Then we will lay all the toys out and the kids will see it all tomorrow! It will be awesome, look for lots of pictures when we return.

Yesterday (Monday), we had the opportunity to go to an evening Haitian Service. Paul Clayborn preached his first sermon and God was with Him. It was great and I am sure very memorable for him.

We have a new team (from San Diego) staying in the team house where we are staying but they are working at a different orphanage. Tomorrow (Wednesday) they are going to do an evangelistic street dancing program and have asked that I preach for those who gather.

Again, this trip has been a wonderful experience. The team is already talking about coming back. Maybe more of you can come and share the gifts and abilities God has blessed you with. The needs are so great here. Keep praying for us these last few days. Good byes are often very hard. We have all grown very close to several of the kids.

Hello friends and family. I wanted to update you on our trip. Things have been great!

We have spent the past two days working at the orphanage. Most of what we have done consists of cleaning out a dorm and painting all the rooms inside it. We also cleaned out the top 3 rooms of the two story building. Kids no longer live in that building and it is all being converted to storage.

The kids at the orphanage are amazing and so full of life. As soon as we arrive at the orphanage the kids come and hold our hands, hug us and even climb on us. Next week we will be doing a VBS of sorts for the kids.

Tomorrow we will go to a nearby prison. Nearby is a relative term though as it will take us one hour to get there. We have been very blessed to get to know Naomi and Becky from Park Christian in Ohio and we are getting to know Sarah, a full time missionary from Tennessee.

Everyone is doing great. As you can imagine, we are keeping very busy. Lots of stories to share when we get back! And yes, all the girls have new hair-dos. Keep us in your prayers and we will see you in one week.

This is Julie posting for David :) He only had a email access for a moment & he sent me a message asking me to post this.

They are safe and sound in Haiti. The team landed this afternoon and made it to the orphanage. He said the children there are adorable and loved having new visitors. The electricity will be sporadic so he’s not sure how often you’ll hear directly from him, but at least we know that they arrived safely. Now just keep praying for God to be working :)

We are getting ready to board for Haiti! Everyone is doing well and we have a game plan. You will hopefully hear from us soon.

We took the long approach to our first destination. We are staying at Galilee Christian Church about an hour or so outside of Atlanta. We leave for the airport at 5 a.m. so it is bed time now. We are all well and we will post tomorrow from Atlanta and/or Miami. Remember our two who have never flown before.

Our team devotions tonight came from 1 Thessalonians 1:1-3 (we are going to study through Paul’s first letter to the Thessalonians on our trip) and we all have been thinking about and praying about those who have and are making this trip possible.

We leave today. Please be in prayer for our team: Barbara Britton, Brittiany Martinez, Cindy Nickodam, Christina Martin, Paul Clayborn and myself. We are leaving family and friends for 12 days. We are thankful for all who have given both prayerfully and financially to support this trip. We are thankful for all who will be praying for us on this trip. We are thankful God has given us this opportunity. May God be glorified, Christ be preached and the Spirit lead us in all efforts.

There will be one more post tomorrow and then there may be silence till Friday…and then again, there may not. If you don’t hear anything, there may not be a way for us to access this blog.

Asking for your prayers as we get ready to leave for Haiti in just a few weeks…days really.

The goal with this blog will be to update our supporters about our trip. I may not be able to update this every day but I will try. This will be a reflection on what is going on and on going in Haiti. We may try to post some pictures too.

David
